Bruce David King passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 24, 2024. He was born in Pontiac, Michigan on October 15, 1946, to Cecil King and Vera Opie King. He moved at a young age with his parents to Mohawk, Michigan, where he happily spent the rest of his life.
He was a graduate of Calumet High School, class of 1964. In 1967, Bruce married Cheryl Hatala. He worked for the Calumet and Hecla Mining Company in their foundry until the mining company closed. He then worked for various road construction companies for several years and retired from the Keweenaw County Road Commission after working there for 21 years.
He was a hard worker and devoted to his family. He loved all and was loved by many. He enjoyed his years of raising cattle and horses on his farm. He loved spending time at his camps and boating.
Together they raised 3 children: Kevin (Pamela), Wendy (Dean) and John (Annie). They have 5 grandchildren: Kayley, Jacob, Ayla, Hannah, Alicia, and one great granddaughter Myra Rose.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother Donald and his nephew Darren, and grandson Bradley.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl, his children, grandchildren, great granddaughter, sister in-law Lynn Kitty and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a private family service for Bruce.
