Brian Berghefer, 60, a resident of Quincy Street in Calumet passed away peacefully at his home following a short battle with cancer on Tuesday November 6, 2018.
He was born on April 12, 1958 in Germany a son of the late Ray and Barbara (O’Brien) Berghefer.
He graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1976, he then went on to attend Great Lakes Maritime Academy in Traverse City.
Brian sailed on the Great Lakes starting 1976 with the Interlake Steam Ship Co. and retired in 1999 last sailing on the MV Paul R. Tergurtha. After his time on the Great Lakes he worked at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital as a Med Tech for 7 years.
On August 1, 2003 he was married to Marianne Martinkus.
Brian loved spending time relaxing at the camp in Conover/Mercer Wisconsin area. His time at the camp was spent riding his side by side, visiting with his neighbors and lots of fishing.
Preceding him in death was his parents, Sister Colleen Berghefer, Uncle Paul O’Brien and 2 close friends Bruce Gerard and Michael Bausano.
Survivng are: the love of his life and soulmate Marianne
His faithful companion & buddy Henry B.
