Breanna Leigh Papke-Makela, 27, a resident of Chassell passed with her husband Friday, January 7, 2022, from injuries received in a house fire.
She was born on August 27, 1994, in Hancock, A daughter to Ronald and Bonita (Kowalski) Papke. She was raised in Paradise Rd. and attended the Hancock and Houghton Schools before graduating from Jeffers High School with the class of 2013.
Following High School Breanna had worked for Holiday Inn Express and Culver’s where she had been a manager currently.
On August 17, 2019, Breanna was united in marriage to John Makela. The couple had been together the past 11 years and had resided in Calumet and Chassell.
Breanna enjoyed the simple things in life such as spending time with her family and pets.
Preceding her in death were her paternal grandfather Emil C. Papke, her maternal grandfather: Richard C. Kowalski, Her aunts: Patricia J. Kowalski and Brenda Lee Kowalski.

Her brother: Bradley (Rebecca) Papke of and their children: Adeline, Nora and Penelope
Her sisters Amanda (Charlie Huhta) Papke and their three children
Her sister: Natasha

Her maternal grandmother: Jean Kowalski
Her paternal grandmother: Alice Papke
Her special aunt: Theresa Hamlin

A celebration of Breanna’s life will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022, in South Range at 30 Trimountain Ave. from 2 to 4:00 pm.
