Beverly Neufeld Salotti, age 95, passed away peacefully in San Diego after a short illness on Sunday May 19, 2024. Beverly’s nickname was Tiger and everywhere she went, people knew her and had some connection to her life.
Beverly was born May 18th, 1929 in Bloomfield, Minnesota the only child to Mary Alverta (Rice) Neufeld and John Henry Neufeld. She attended Luther College in Decora, Iowa and received her bachelors degree in art and physical education. She was teaching in Boulder, Colorado when she met Charles Anthony Salotti on a blind date. They were married on August 27, 1955. They lived all over the country including: California, Georgia, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Texas, but eventually relocated to Chassell, Michigan for retirement in 1991.
Throughout the years, Beverly enjoyed hosting parties and entertaining friends. Her other interests included gardening and her friends often said she had the “greenest thumb” and could grow anything. She enjoyed sports of all kinds and had season tickets to Michigan Tech hockey and basketball for decades. She looked forward to attending games and cheering for The Huskies. She was heavily involved with the A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum during her life and enjoyed volunteering her time helping to raise funds for the museum. Beverly served many years as the trustee for the Edith & E.W. Heinrich Mineralogical Trust at Michigan Tech. She was a long time member of the Miscowaubik Club and enjoyed sharing conversation and making memories with family and friends over meals at the club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, and daughter Mary Kay.
Beverly is survived by her children, John of Pennsylvania, Charles and daughter-in law Brenda of Colorado, Ruth Hager and son-in-law Greg Hager of Florida, Joanie Salotti Craig and son-in-law Cree Craig of California. Her grandchildren include: Maria Pierce(Ian), Kyle Hager and wife Stephanie, and Ethan Hager and wife Jennifer. Her great grandchildren include: Patrick Pierce, Joseph Pierce, Charlie Hager and Julian Hager. Her cousin Jim Neufeld and wife Velma. She leaves behind all her wonderful U.P. family, including her caregiver and friend Sarah Aho.
Tiger was a kind hearted and generous person who will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers, memorials-donations may be made to the Seaman Mineral Museum at Michigan Technological University, 1400 Townsend Drive, Houghton, MI 49931.
A celebration of life for Tiger will be held Saturday August 31st at 1pm at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home Chapel, 26090 Pine St. Calumet, Michigan with reception to follow.
