Beverly Cole, 87, a former resident of Eagle Harbor, Eagle River and Houghton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Woodland Haven at Canal View in Houghton County.
She was born on October 12, 1934 in Detroit to Joseph and Crescence (Hartman) Lokar. She graduated from St. Theresa High School.
On September 29, 1956 Beverly was united in marriage to George “Bud” Cole in Detroit.
Beverly loved spending time with her children and she adored her grandchildren. She enjoyed everything outdoors especially spending time in her flower gardens, going for walks, and had a deep appreciation of the beauty and history of the Keweenaw. She also had a keen sense of interior design and was a master seamstress. In her younger years, Beverly figured skated for the Detroit Skating Club and performed at Michigan Tech.
Beverly was a steadfast and devoted Catholic, she attended and was a member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton.
Beverly’s parents and ancestors arrived in the Keweenaw in the 1860’s and lived in Laurium, Calumet, and Eagle River.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Crescence Lokar, her brother Gerald Lokar, her husband George “Bud”, and her sister-in-law Madeline Lokar.
She is survived by:

Jerry (Patty) Cole of Algonquin, IL
John Cole of Barrington, NH
Bud (Rie) Cole of Tokyo, Japan & Eagle River MI
Her grandchildren, Emily, Jonathan and Grace Cole
Her brothers: Robert Lokar of Dearborn Heights, MI
Paul (Mary) Lokar of Kalamazoo, MI
And numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will take place on Wednesday November 10, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Evergreen Cemetery in Eagle River with Father John Martignon to officiate.
