Bernice E. Nord, age 95 of Palm Harbor, FL passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023 at her home with her sister by her side.
She was born June 19, 1928 in L’Anse, MI daughter of Leo and Tyyne (Rivers) Tollefson. Bernice graduated from L’anse High School in 1946. She married Leland Nord on July 22, 1950 in L’Anse. Bernice worked at Commercial National Bank in L’Anse for four years, Marquette General Hospital in accounting department for two years, Dr. Lambert in Marquette for 2 years, Haven & Garlock CPAs for 3 years, Andrew M. Skaug CPA for eight years, Curtis, Bailey, & Espiota CPAs for eight years, then William G. Martin Realtor until retiring in 1986.
Bernice was a member of United Lutheran Church in L’Anse.
She is survived by her brother Marvin Tollefson of Crystal Falls, MI; sisters, Leona Schultz of Freedom, WI, Phyllis Olson of Marquette, MI, Rena (Gary) Boucher of Dunedin, FL; sister-in-laws Betty Tollefson of L’Anse; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Leland Nord; Leo and Tyyne Tollefson; sister Edna Nord, brothers, Raymond and Leslie Tollefson..
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 11th at 11 a.m. at United Lutheran Church in L’Anse with Pastor Julie Belew officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in the Baraga Cemetery. Jacobson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
