Barbara Ann Lewis, 79, a former Copper Country resident, passed away suddenly on New Year’s Morning 2022 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Barbara was born on March 2nd, 1942, in Lake Linden, Michigan to W. Allen Lewis & Bertha M (Auger) Lewis. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School in Lake Linden through the 8th Grade. She Graduated from Lake Linden Hubbell High School in June 1960.
Barbara was a Varsity Sports Cheerleader and chosen to lead the cheerleading squad as Captain for 2 years.
She completed a secretarial program at a Vocational School in Marquette, Michigan in 1972.
She moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she worked as a secretary for Sperry Univac in Eagan, MN. and worked part-time in retail clothing stores.
Barbara’s favorite pastime over the past years has been watching live sport games on T.V. She was an avid GREEN BAY PACKERS FAN. She faithfully cheered for the MILWAUKEE BUCKS and the GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS basketball teams. She enjoyed all baseball games broadcasted on T.V. Cheering always for the CHICAGO CUBS.
Barbara especially loved to attend her Great granddaughter’s Monroe and Madyn’s dance recitals and during the summer months, cheering for great grandson, Major’s baseball games.
She was a devout Catholic and faithfully prayed the rosary most evenings with a program broadcasted on EWTN.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, W. Allen and Bertha (Auger) Lewis. Her 2 brothers, Allen James Lewis and Raymond C. Lewis and her Grandson, Johnny Makela.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherri Hayes of Minneapolis, MN and her son, John J. Makela of Mesa, AZ.
Four Grandchildren:
Courtney Christian of Minneapolis, MN., Taylor (Patrick) Watts of Bloomington, MN.
Tenley and Aune Makela of Mesa, AZ.
Four Great grandchildren:
Monroe, Major, Madyn and Malone Watts of Bloomington, MN.

A Mass of Christian burial to be planned in May of 2022
Burial will take place in Mt Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden in May of 2022.
