Barbara Jean Brodbeck, age 89, formerly of Keweenaw Bay, MI passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Bayside Village in L’Anse, MI.
She was born January 19, 1931 in Chicago, IL daughter of Fred and Edith (Willson) Clement. Barbara graduated from Peoria High School in 1949. She married Thomas “Ray” Brodbeck Jr. on February 9, 1952 at St. Cecelia Church in Peoria, IL. Barbara worked as a lunch monitor at Keller Central Grade School in Peoria for 16 years. She was a life member of the Baraga American Legion Auxiliary and a founding member of the Baraga Historical Museum. Barbara was known for her spunkiness, independence and her 3 pm cocktail with her sister.
Surviving are her children, Mary (Todd) Rogers of Merrill, WI, Richard (Josephine) Brodbeck of Nisula, MI, Roger Brodbeck of California; grandchildren, Anthony Hughes, Beth Ann Ledbetter, Amber (Jeb) Holley, Hannah and Addie Brodbeck; great grandchildren, Kylei Elizabeth, Emily Ann, Olivia Anne, Zeth and Harper Violet, sister-in law Suzanne (Frank) McCabe, as well as many nieces and nephews and ‘adopted’ daughter and favorite CNA Lauri Goodrea.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Thomas “Ray”; and sister Janet Henley.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Baraga Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
