A Memorial service for Barbara J. Voltz, a former resident of Pelkie who passed away December 24, 2017, will be held Saturday morning May 19, 2018 at Grace Free Lutheran Church in Pelkie at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Pelkie Cemetery. A celebration of her life and a time to remember will be held at the Ottawa Sportsmen’s Club beginning at 1:30 p.m., Saturday afternoon.

Barbara J. Voltz, 85, a resident of the Bluffs Senior Living Community in Houghton and former Pelkie resident passed away Sunday morning December 24, 2017, at the Omega House in Houghton. She was born on June 22, 1932, in Evanston, IL, a daughter of the late Celsus and Lucille (Knauf) Stahl. She was a graduate of the Evanston High School.

On November 10, 1950, she was united in marriage to Floyd Voltz in Ishpeming, MI. The couple had resided in Cheboygan, Ithaca, Ishpeming, L’Anse, and Pelkie. On July 30, 2013, Floyd preceded Barbara in death. Surviving are her sister Marlene (Larry) Felan of Fayette, AL, and her children; Victor Voltz of Grand Rapids, Bonnie Voltz of Baraga, Patti (John) Tembreull of L’Anse, Cheryl Hirzel of Baraga, and Gretchen Voltz of Waterford. She had numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Barb was a member of S.S. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church of Houghton and attended Grace Free Lutheran Church of Pelkie. She had worked for the Pelkie Co-op and retired from the Pelkie Credit Union as manager. Barb had a passion for crafting, a gift for hospitality, enjoyed her garden and winters in Texas, and had an enduring love for the Lord.
