Obituary: Arlen Wayne John

As received from the Memorial Chapel & Plowe Funeral Homes:

South Range

Arlen Wayne John passed on to heaven on July 16, 2021, at the age of 83.  He was surrounded by love and friends.  Arlene Wayne John was born in St. Croix Falls, WI, on April 14, 1939.

In 1981, he moved to the Stanton House in South Range, MI where he truly began to live his life his way.

Arlen loved his life.  He enjoyed parties, picnics, shopping, being outside & being with his friends.  He was always smiling and made friends wherever he went.

His energy and positive attitude were infectious.  He could put a smile on anyone’s face.

Arlen was kind, patient, generous and had a true love for his fellow man.  He always looked out for his brother Donald who went on to heaven before him on February 7, 2008.

For over 20 years Arlen was faced with many serious medical challenges.  He met each one head-on with grace, a quiet strength, and a real determination to survive.  He never gave up.  He never felt sorry for himself.  He faced his challenges head-on and just dealt with it.

His gentleness and huge heart were an inspiration to a lot of people.  You just couldn’t help but be touched by the kindness of his heart and the purity of his soul.

Arlen is already greatly missed by all his friends at Stanton House.  The place will never be the same without him.  For 40 years the staff of Stanton House & CCMH took increasable care to give Arlen his best life possible.  The Direct Care Staff & medical staff are simply the best.  Arlen was blessed to have them in his life and he appreciated them all.  His passing on to heaven leaves a great void in the lives of all who knew and loved him.

The final hours of Arlen’s life were spent just as he had lived.  Surrounded by friends, love, and the gentle spirit that was Arlen.  It is a true testament of love for Arlen that so many people came to see him and say goodbye that last day.

If we can learn anything from Arlen’s life it is to always just be kind.  Treat others as you wish to be treated.  You just cannot fail with that plan.

Arlen is survived by so many friends it is impossible to list them all & his loving Guardian of 19 years Linda.  Rest Well dear friend you have earned it.

A private service for Arlen will be held at Stanton House at a later date.
