Obituary: Annie Murray

As received from the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home:

Annie Murray, 98, a resident of Lake Linden, passed away peacefully at the Omega House on Tuesday March 15, 2022. She very proudly lived independently at home, enjoying her 98th birthday there with dear friends on February 25th.

Annie was born on February 25, 1924 in Falkirk, Stirlingshire, Scotland to Samuel and Mary (McTear) Ramsay. She attended the local schools and completed her secondary education there, before serving in the armed forces during World War II in Britain.  She immigrated to America, landing in the Detroit, Michigan, area in the 1950’s, where she remained until she relocated to Lake Linden, Michigan, in 1993 following her husband’s death.  Shortly after moving to the local area, Annie started volunteering with Little Brothers, Friends of the Elderly, where she met and made many wonderful friends, especially Joyce.   She would have been lost without the unending love and support of her special friend, Nancy Fisher.  She enjoyed knitting and reading, and in her younger years loved to travel.

She was united in marriage to her husband, Jack Murray, in 1973 in Westland, Michigan.  Jack passed away in 1989.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Mary, and her brother, William Ramsay, all of Scotland.

She is survived by her sisters: Mona Kerr of Stirlingshire, Scotland, and Margaret (Darriell) Sever of Lake Linden,  MIchigan, along with numerous nieces and nephews in both America and Scotland.

Per Annie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and burial will be at the Cadillac Memorial Gardens West this summer, where she will be reunited with her husband.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff of At Home Companions for the wonderful care they have provided Annie.  They truly went above and beyond our expectations in keeping Annie happy.
