Anne Margaret Schutte, age 83 of Baraga, MI passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at UP Health System Marquette, MI.
She was born April 14, 1936 in Detroit, MI daughter to C. Mark and Marion (Smith) Cutler. Anne graduated from Redford High School in 1954 and then received a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. On November 23, 1958 she married James Schutte in Detroit and then they moved to Baraga. In the late 60’s she started teaching. She owned the Baraga Floral Shop for about 10 years, then in 1985 she returned to teaching at L’Anse High School until her retirement.
Anne was a member of Christian Science Society of Houghton, MI and played the organ both there and prior years at St. Ann’s Church. She loved flowers, her cats and dogs, trips to the casino, and visiting with family and friends.
Surviving are her children, Joseph (Katy) Schutte of L’Anse, Susan (Paul) DeMuth of Bloomington, MN, Elizabeth (Gary) Nevala of Ishpeming, MI; sister Jane (David) Neese of Caro, MI; grandchildren, Jimmy, Sean, Catherine; and great grandson Tyler “TJ”.
Preceding her in death are her parents and husband James.
Visitation will be on Sunday, May 5th from 2-4 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be at 4 p.m. with Sharon Juntunen officiating.
