Alice Eva Paquette, 102, former resident of Lake Linden, passed away at Garden View in Calumet on May 1, 2021.
Alice was born on February 1, 1919, the only child of Alfred and Rachel (O’Neil) Dusseault. She was a graduate of Lake Linden-Hubbell in 1937.
She married Russell Henry Paquette on June 30, 1938, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lake Linden. They first lived together in Michigan for 27 years before relocating to Burbank, California in 1965. There, she worked for the Post Office for 17 years until they both retired in 1983. They moved to Visalia, CA and Russell passed away in June of 1991. Alice moved to Arizona, where she stayed until she returned to the Copper Country in 2009. She lived at NorthRidge Pines in Calumet for 5 years before moving to Garden View in Calumet.
Alice was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club and the Sandstone Piecemakers Quilting Guild. She had been a member of the Altar Society at Saint Joseph’s Church in Lake Linden.
She enjoyed traveling and adventure seeking. She also liked reading, quilting, and sewing. She was an outgoing person, always ready to find a new friend.
She was preceded in death by: parents, husband, great-grandson-John Charles Matson; and great-granddaughters-Charlene and Mindy Matson.
Alice is survived by: 4 children-Rae Louise Matson of Hubbell, R. Peter (Vien) Paquette of San Jose, CA, Susan Paquette of Lake Linden, and Sarah J. Paquette of Shawano, WI; 7 grandchildren-Charles (Becki) Matson of Hubbell, Terry Mattson of New Haven, MI, Elizabeth (Scott) Pollins of Yuma, AZ, Irene Hebein of Shawano, WI, Peter Matson of Hubbell, Neil (Elisa) Maiers of Sonoma, CA, and Alicia Paquette of San Jose, CA; 5 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Boakye Yiadom to officiate. Visitation will be Friday, May 21 from 6 until 8:00 PM at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
