Obituary: Alberta Herveat

UPDATE: Graveside services will at 11:00 A.M. on Monday July 18, 2022 at Forest Hill Cemetery (Section 15) in Houghton with Reverend Scott Lindenberg to officiate. A pasty lunch will follow at the First United Methodist Church.


Alberta Marie Herveat, 92, of Hancock, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 at Canal View – Houghton County where she was a resident patient.

She was born on December 25, 1929 in Hancock to the late John and Stella (Armstrong) Garske. She lived most of her life in Hancock, Houghton, and Chassell. Alberta was a 1947 graduate of Hancock High School.

Alberta was married to Paul Herveat on May 28, 1953. He preceded her in death in January of 1996.

Alberta was employed by Dr. John M. Aldrich, DDS for 38 years, and then for Dr. R. W. Duncan, Jr. DDS for 12 years, working as a dental assistant.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hancock. She enjoyed bowling in her younger years. She was a kind and sweet lady who often wore a happy smile.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and husband, Paul. She is survived by a cousin Carol (David) Waisanen of Hancock and their families.

There will be no services at this time, with a graveside service scheduled for later this summer at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton with Reverend Scott Lindenberg officiating.

The family would like to thank the staff at Canal View – Houghton County for their kind and compassionate care and attention given to Alberta during her stay there.
