Obituary: Albert Floyd “Bud” Clement

UPDATE: Burial will be in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery on Thursday, May 18th at 1:00 p.m. with the Baraga County Area Veterans conducting military honors and committal prayers by Pastor Corey Harman.

Albert Floyd “Bud” Clement, age 86 of L’Anse, MI passed away on Tuesday, April 4th, 2023 at his home.

He was born November 14th, 1936 in L’Anse, MI son of Albert and Bertha (Holm) Clement. Bud was raised in L’anse, where he attended school until the 10th grade, then moved to Libertyville, IL. He served in the US Army from 1954-57 during the Korean War. On November 12, 1960 Bud married Elsa Kauranen in Covington, MI. Bud lived in Waukegen, IL and worked at Allis Chalmer’s on the assembly line. In 1973 he and his family moved to L’Anse and worked at the Baraga County Road Commission for 25 years, retiring in 1994.

Bud was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Covington where he served on the council and American Legion Post 144. He enjoyed being out at camp on Big Lake, Hunting, fishing, and was a WWII enthusiast. Bud loved watching sports and especially the Packers. He loved his family and especially loved babies, and watching his grandchildrens activities.

Surviving are his wife Elsa Clement of L’Anse; children, Greg (Joanne) Clement and Roxanne (Charlie Ahlsen) Clement both of L’Anse; brothers, Gary (Ruth) Clement of Grayslake, IL, Joe (Susie) Clement of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Megan Anderson, Cody Clement, Nicole (Garrett) Weber; great grandchild Azaiah; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Albert and Bertha; brothers, Raymond, Claude, and Roger.

Visitation will be on Saturday, April 8th from 10-11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. His funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Corey Harman officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in the spring in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
