Albert E. Anderson, 98, a resident of Boston Road, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility.
He was born on November 3, 1920 in Osceola Location to Andrew and Maria (Kumara) Anderson.
He attended the local schools. Albert served in the United States Army on a hospital ship in the Philippines during WWII.
He worked as a track maintenance foreman for the Soo Line Railroad for 43 years, retiring in 1980.
Albert loved the challenge of gardening and had success growing potatoes and strawberries. He became an avid golfer, developing a personal golf course at home in place of the potato field. He enjoyed going for a walk every day, and treasured time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
On May 17, 1952 he married Martha Lantto.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Maria, his wife, Martha, his brothers, Archie, Abram, and Arnie, his sister, Alfa, 3 grandsons, Albert, Bendigo, and Sam, and his son-in-law, Brent Halonen.
He was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet.

The funeral service will be held at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet on Monday, April 29, 2019 at 11:00 am with Pastor David Taivalkoski to officiate. Friends may call at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet on Sunday, April 28, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and from 10:00 am until the time of the service on Monday, April 29, 2019.
Burial will take place in the Lake View Cemetery later in the spring.
