Alan Ronald Kamarainen, age 55 of Baraga, MI passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018 unexpectedly at his home.
He was born March 27, 1963 in St Ignace, MI son of Ronald and Barbara (Holm) Kamarainen. Alan graduated from Baraga High School in 1981 and then received an Associate Degree from NMU in building trades. He worked as a carpenter, first for Roy Koski for several years and then was self-employed.
Alan enjoyed trapping, hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors. He belonged to the Fur Harvesters Association and was known as one of the country’s finest trappers – receiving awards for his furs. When he was younger he played fast-pitch softball and would still play old timers softball. Alan was a hard worker – a perfectionist with everything he touched. He had a tremendous love for his kids and grandkids.
Surviving are his children, Amber (Jacob) Kamarainen and Erin Kamarainen of Baraga, Cayden and Aubrey, Sarah (Sean) Richard, Chris (Davina) Duerkop; soulmate, Karen Duerkop of Baraga; mother Barbara Kamarainen of Baraga; brother Mike (Sandy) Kamarainen of Mequon, WI; sister Bonnie Klamerus of Lakewood, CO; grandson Jaxon Picard; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father Ronald Kamarainen.
Visitation will be on Sunday, July 29th from 12-1:00 p.m. at Mission United Lutheran Church. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Peter Suomela officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family. We ask that you refrain from sending flowers.
