Obituary: Ailie E Kinnunen

Chassell

     Ailie E Kinnunen, 94, a resident of Chassell, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at Canal View — Houghton County in Hancock following a short illness.

     She was born on October 8, 1925, in Boston Location, a daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Hiltunen)Kinnunen.  Ailie was raised in Boston Location and attended the Boston School and was a graduate of the Hancock High School with the class of 1944.

     Mrs. Kinnunen then worked as a secretary for Dr. A.B. Aldrich.  On February 17, 1945, Ailie was United in marriage to Vivien Kinnunen and the couple moved to make their home on the Broemer Rd. where they raised their family.  On January 18, 1991, Vivien preceded Ailie in death.

    Mrs. Kinnunen was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chassell and was active with the neighborhood home makers club. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and baking for family and friends.

     Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents and her brothers and sisters: Uno, Wilho, Edward, Wayne, Donald, Emil, Hilda & Senia.

     Surviving are:
            Her children: Linda (Joe) Martino of Chassell
                                     Larry (Julie Anne Lackey) Kinnunen of Chassell
            Her granddaughter: Tammy (Anthony) Autore of Munising
            Her great-granddaughter: Arabella Autore
Her step great-granddaughter Cali Bouschour
            Her brother: Emil Kinnunen of Calumet
            Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins

     A private graveside service for Ailie will be held at a later time at the Lakeside Cemetery with Rev. Soren Schmidt to officiate.
