Obituary: Aileen Catherine Orquist Davis

Aileen Catherine Orquist Davis, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Bayside Village, L’Anse where she had been a resident since 2013. She was born in Covington, MI on March 17, 1918 the daughter of the late John and Hedwic (Louma) Orquist. Aileen was the youngest of 12 children. She attended school in Covington. Aileen married William “Bill” Davis in Sidnaw, MI on November 29, 1937. Bill and Aileen loved to go camping with their little dog, Teddy. They also enjoyed ATV riding and loved spending time with siblings, friends and grandchildren. Bill passed away suddenly in 1987. Aileen had worked in 7 post offices from 1965-1983, Watton, Sidnaw, Kenton, Trout Creek Bruce Crossing, Ewen and Watersmeet. She was a member of Sidnaw United Methodist Church, Sidnaw, MI and a lifetime member of the Covington VFW Auxiliary. Aileen enjoyed playing cards, doing jigsaw puzzles, watching game shows and going to the casino, where she had won a car. Aileen was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Aileen is survived by her loving children Clifford Davis of Trout Creek, MI, Maxine (Peter) Thompson of Trout Creek, MI and Robert (Cheryl) Davis of Sidnaw, MI, 7 grandchildren Tim Davis of Edwardsburg, MI, Jeff Davis of Edwardsburg, MI, Carrie (Gregg) Lindner of Minocqua, WI, Ken Thompson of Minocqua, WI, Bobbie (Jason) Richart of Garden Valley, ID, Todd (Victoria Tulppo) Davis of Sidnaw, MI and Bill (Megan) Davis of Boyne City, MI, 11 great grandchildren and great-great granddaughter Nora Margaret. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her 11 siblings.

A memorial funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Sidnaw United Methodist Church with Pastor Nathan Reed officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service. Immediately following the funeral service, the family invites friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon at the church. Interment will take place in the Sidnaw Cemetery.
