Obituary: Adelard Joseph Lajimodiere, Jr.

Lake Linden: Adelard Joseph Lajimodiere, Jr., a 40 year resident of Houston, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
                “Al” was born September 5, 1954, in Laurium, Michigan, to parents Marjorie (Moehrke) and Adelard Lajimodiere, Sr.  He attended St. Joseph Catholic School through the 8th grade.  He then attended Lake Linden-Hubbell High School and graduated with the class of 1972.
                After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served 4 years in the 25th Infantry Ranger Division, holding the rank of Sergeant.  He was honorably discharged in 1976 and returned to his hometown of Lake Linden where he served with the National Guard.
                He was a member of the United States Judo Association and taught judo and taekwondo classes at Michigan Tech University.  After moving to Houston, he worked for Shell Oil as a rig supervisor, and when the opportunity arose to go to Kuwait to fight oil well fires, post-Gulf War, he joined the Wild Well Control.  He then transitioned to Cudd Well Control where he served as a well control specialist.
                He was preceded in death by his parents, Adelard, Sr. and Marjorie Lajimodiere.
                He is survived by: his wife-Sharon Mercer; brother-Bernard (Darlene) Lajimodiere of Lakewood, Colorado; twin brothers-Patrick “Big Joe” (Debbie) Lajimodiere and Chris (Colleen) Lajimodiere of Lake Linden, Michigan; sisters-Debra Lajimodiere of Dollar Bay, Michigan and Eileen Lajimodiere of San Marcos, California; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
                Al’s adventures in life included the many sports that he enjoyed as an avid football, baseball, and basketball player and fan.  He enjoyed water and snow skiing, karate and judo, tennis, canoeing, rafting, hiking, and dancing to his favorite music.
                He derived the most joy from the camaraderie associated with the many groups that he belonged to, including a lifetime membership with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, High Bidders, Well Fire Cookers BBQ Cook-off Team, Killin’ Time Kookers BBQ Cook-off Team, and his Harley motorcycle group of dear friends.
                A celebration of Al’s life will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 2-6 P.M. at the Lake’s Lounge in Lake Linden, MI.
