Mark Louis “Milk” King

Calumet: Mark Louis “Milk” King, 58, resident of Calumet, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2017, at UP Health System-Marquette, with his family by his side.

He was born on February 3, 1959, a son of Robert and Ella Mae King of Hubbell.  He was a 1977 graduate of Lake Linden-Hubbell Schools.

He served in the US Army for 4 years, which is where he started his chef career.  After the Army, he worked at several restaurants in the U.P.  Cooking and music were his passions.  He played the organ and loved to entertain.  He took after his dad and was the Santa in Ontonagon for many years.  He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and several uncles and aunts.

He is survived by: 3 children-Natasha (Jack) King, Robert King, and Erica (Dustin) Pindral; 7 grandchildren-Alexander, Zoey, Jazmyn, Dyllan, Ethan, Olivia, and Lily-Ann; 3 sisters-Bonnie Thurston, Roberta (James) Crouch, and Pat (Bob) Rule; his former spouse-Sherry; his cat-Precious; special nephew-Scott Crouch; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be a memorial service for friends and family on Saturday at Noon at The Eagle’s Den in Ontonagon.

The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in charge of arrangements.
