Lucille C. Coleman, age 88, of L’Anse passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, L’Anse. She was born in L’Anse on September 18, 1928, the daughter of the late Reil and Anna (Coski) Delarye. Lucille attended school in L’Anse. She married Edward Cavanaugh and they had two children Thomas and Roger Cavanaugh. He preceded her in death. In 1952 she married Walter Coleman and they had two children, Glenn and Christine Coleman. He preceded her in death in April of 1997. She had owned and operated Lou’s Dairy Bar in L’Anse during the 1970’s. Lucille had enjoyed interacting with all the kids that hung out there. Her leisure activities including having her hair done weekly at the Style Inn, being outdoors enjoying nature, collecting her large angel collection and being with her puppy “Cuddles. Lucille loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had been a member of United Methodist Church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse and TOPS.
Mrs. Coleman is survived by her loving family, children Glenn (Andrea) Coleman and Christine (Jaren) Tollefson both of L’Anse, grandchildren Lisa (Mike) Kalisz of Parker, Colorado. Luke (Tammy) Coleman of Ishpeming, Tina (Joe) St Onge of Marquette and Todd Tekari of L’Anse, great grandchildren Landon and Dominick Kalisz, Gracie and Abbi Coleman. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, sons Thomas and Roger Cavanaugh, grandchildren Roger and Christy Cavanaugh and her siblings Mary Denomme, Genovive Pelon, Leo Coski, Josephine Langois, John Coski, Virginia Dudo, Bernadette Freitag, Harold Delarye, Orzelle Brazeau and Eileen Phillips.
Funeral services for Mrs. Coleman will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse with Deacon John Cadeau officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Immediately following the service, interment will take place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the family for fellowship and a luncheon in the church hall following the interment.
