Kevin Mattfolk, 48, of Dollar Bay, passed away suddenly Monday, October 23, 2017, due to a heart attack, subsequently brought on by diabetes and hypertension.

Kevin was born September 2, 1969, in Lake Linden and attended Dollar Bay Schools.  Kevin worked for several loggers in the woods, including running a log truck.

He was well known for his love of classic cars, having restored a ’56 Chev with his father in his youth.  Kevin also loved Elvis and oldies music, ice fishing, berry picking and rock/copper picking.   He was kind hearted and cared for several farm and domestic animals.

Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Pananen (Dulong); maternal grandparents Weldon and Janet Dulong; paternal grandparents, Carl Mattfolk and Ruth (Howard) Wilmes; and several other aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kevin is survived by a son; Joey Mattfolk of Baraga; father, Charles (Karen) Mattfolk of Dollar Bay; brothers, Andy Mattfolk and Jeff Mattfolk; and sister, Carla Mattfolk all of Dollar Bay; a step-sister, Robin (Zach) Palosaari also of Dollar Bay; and numerous other uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and several close friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 3 p.m. at the Jukuri-Antila Funeral Home, 1500 W. Quincy St., Hancock, with Pastor Jerry Keranen to officiate.  Visitation will be two hours before from 1 to 3p.m. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at antilafuneral.com
