Julie A. (Michael) Delich

Tapiola

Julie A. (Michael) Delich, 62, a resident of Tapiola, passed away early Saturday morning November 4, 2017, at home surrounded by her loving family following a short battle with cancer.

She was born on August 23, 1955, in Bessemer, MI, a daughter of the late Urbo and Bertha (Talus) Lammi.  As a child, her family moved to the Houghton area where she graduated from the Houghton High School.

On April 8, 1978, she was united in marriage to Michael Delich.  The couple had resided in Houghton, Chassell and for the past 25 years made their home in Tapiola.

Julie was a free spirit that loved cutting the grass, cooking and baking traditional Finnish meals, taking Sunday Saunas, caring for her ever-growing family of animals, listening to her grandchildren play in the pool on a hot day, and spending time laughing with family and friends.  She was a dedicated supporter of medical cannabis as it has helped treat her seizures and enjoyed teaching its benefits to anyone it might also help. She was impressively optimistic and always had a kind word to share.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her sister-in-law: Irene Parish.

     Surviving are:

  • Her husband: Michael Delich of Tapiola

  • Her children:

    • Angela (Brian Michaelson) Schjoth of Tapiola

    • Michael (Michele Hoggard) Delich of L’Anse

    • Harley (Aimee) Delich of Tapiola

  • 5 grandchildren: Topaz, Kennedy, Paisley, Phoenix and Michael

  • Her brother: Michael (Joan) Lammi of Hanover Park, IL

  • A circle of her dearest and lifelong sister-friends

The family will have a private celebration of her life.
