John R Karvola, age 71, of Florida Location, passed away at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital on Sunday, August 13, 2017.
John was born in Laurium to Raymond and Agnes (Sterk) Karvola on February 25, 1946.
He attended Calumet High School and graduated with the class of 1964.
He served in the National Guard and was called into duty in 1967 for the Detroit Riots.
John lived in Wisconsin for a number of years and while down there worked for Kohler and also as a security guard in Sheboygan. He also worked in the local mines for a while including the Centennial and Kingston. Eventually he went into business for himself as a plumber.
John was an avid Red Wings and Packers fan. He was a great man and was always willing to help people out.
John was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Bob Heimerl.

Sons: Aaron (Ashley) Karvola of South Carolina
Erik (Stephanie) Karvola of Grayling, Michigan
Daughter: Carleen Karvola of Calumet
5 grandchildren: Andy, Macy, Bob, Gavin, and Jayden
Brother: Chico Karvola of Raymbaultown
Sister: Christine Heimerl of Uniongrove, Wisconsin
And numerous cousins.
As he requested cremation will take place and no public services will be held.
