Jerome “Jerry” Hiltunen a resident of Allouez Township passed away at his home on Saturday June 24, 2017 surrounded by his family.
He was born on October 8, 1935, a son of the lat Waino and Mae (Lantto) Hiltunen.
Jerry graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1954.
On June 30, 1955 he married Darlene Schmidlin.
They resided in Royal, Michigan until 1987 when they returned to the Copper Country.
Jerry and Dar loved to entertain family and friends over the years and were known for their barbeques and hospitality. Jerry spent many wonderful years on his boat fishing out of Big Traverse with friends.
Jerry is survived by his son Michael (Marianne) Hiltunen of Wisconsin
Daughters Beth (Leo) Farmer, of Calumet And Susan Grant of Calumet.
Son-in-law Ray Koskela of Big Traverse
Brother Robert Hiltunen of Ahmeek
Sisters Marie (Russ) Richards of Sterling Heights, Michigan
Karen Laukka of Ahmeek
Brenda Bardo of Ahmeek
Grand Children: Kevin Koskela, Krisit Koskela, Scott Hiltunen, Jeremy Grant, Johnnie (Carie)
Grant, Alex Grant, Dylan Farmer, Grat Granson Caleb Koskela.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Wife Darlene On September 1, 2015, Daughter Terri On December 25, 2016, an infant grandson Joey Grant. Brothers Fred Hiltunen and Jocko Hiltunen, A sister Jean Poshak.
Private family services will be held in Erickson Crowley Funeral Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet.
The family would like to thank Pam Aho and all the staff members at Aspirus Keweenaw Home Health and Hospice for the care they gave to Jerry.
