Gregory Magnuson

Gregory Magnuson, 61, of Bootjack Road, Lake Linden, passed away peacefully in Rochester, Minnesota on June 20, 2017.

Greg was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on July 21, 1955, the son of Donald and Beverly (Johnson) Magnuson. He graduated from Ishpeming High School in 1973.

Following high school graduation, Greg began working for the Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Company, retiring in 2003 after 30 years of service.

He married Lynn Baril on June 18, 1983 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden, Michigan.

Greg was a member of United Steelworkers Local 4950, a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, and a member of the Bootjack Volunteer Fire Department. He spent his life devoted to helping others.

Greg loved being outdoors, and enjoyed bicycling, downhill skiing, and water sports.

He was preceded in death by his mother Beverly, his brother Peter, and a sister-in-law, Candace.

Greg, a wonderful, kind-spirited man, will be deeply missed by his wife Lynn; his father Donald; his brother Donald (Alice); his sister Diane (Gary) Hamel; his brother-in-law Mark (Karen) Baril; his sisters-in-law Sandy (Ed) Jeannotte, and Trish (Andy) Burton; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden with Fr. Corbin Eddy and Fr. Joseph Boakye Yiadom to concelebrate. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 27, at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden, with a parish prayer service at 7:30 PM.

Burial will be at the Ishpeming Cemetery in Ishpeming, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Bootjack Fire and Rescue Foundation, or Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly, Upper Michigan Chapter.
