Eva M. Simonson, 93, a former resident of Chassell and Hancock passed away Tuesday morning August 29, 2017, at the Franklin House of Portage Pointe in Hancock where she had been a resident since this past November.

She was born on June 22, 1924, in Calumet, MI, a daughter of the late William and Mary (Muonio) Simula.  Eva was raised in Mohawk and graduated from Calumet High School.

On January 24, 1945, she was united in marriage to Eino Simonson.  The couple had resided in Hancock where they raised their children.  They then moved to make their home in Chassell.  On April 5, 2000, Eino preceded Eva in death.

Mrs. Simonson was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock.

Preceding her in death were her husband, her grandson Eric Simonson, three brothers and five sisters.

Randy (Joyce) Simonson of Minnesota

Sid (Evie) Simonson of Minnesota

Marshal (Dot) Simonson of Wyoming

72 Grandchildren numerous great grandchildren

Her sisters-in-law: Effie Hallstrom of Hancock

Lempi Hanson of Montana

Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins

Funeral Service for Eva will be held 11 am Friday September 1, 2017, at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock.  Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Calumet.

Friends may call on Thursday August 31, 2017, from 6 to 8 pm at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock and on Friday from 10 am until time of services at the Church.
