Ellen Rachel Clisch, age 88 of Nisula, MI passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017 at St. Mary’s Mercy Hospital in Livonia, MI.
She was born November 18, 1928 in Detroit, MI daughter of Axel and Rachel (Jokinen) Vanhala. Ellen graduated from Baraga High School in 1946. She married Roy D. Clisch on August 25, 1951 in Detroit, MI. They resided in Livonia until 1988 when they retired to Nisula.
She was a member of Mission United Lutheran Church in Pelkie, and a longtime member of the Finnish Center Association in Livonia. She enjoyed making jam & jelly, painting, crafts, and reading. Ellen loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are her sons, George (Cheryl) Clisch of Flower Mound, TX, James (Linda) Clisch of Phoenix, AZ; Richard (Joyce) Clisch of Canton, MI, Robert (Janet) Clisch of Plymouth, MI; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Roy in 2002; and sister Doris Storm.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 17th at 11 a.m. at Mission United Lutheran Church with Rev. Bucky Beach officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Nisula Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
