Earl “Ordie” Ernest Froberg, age 73 of Keweenaw Bay, MI passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Bayside Village.
He was born May 24, 1944 in Keweenaw Bay, son of Edward and Hazel (Shippy) Froberg. Earl graduated from Baraga High School. He was in the Army National Guard from June 1961-June 1968. Earl was married to the former Mary Ann Beach; she preceded him on June 6, 2016. He worked for Virgil Johnson Well Drilling, and then purchased the business, and owned and operated Froberg Well Drilling for 43 years.
Earl was a member of the Keweenaw Bay Volunteer Fire Department and pitcher for a fast pitch softball team. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, ice fishing, tractors, making wood, attending his grand kids sporting events, and having daily coffee at his friend Roger Koski’s house.
Surviving are his children, Mike (Jessica Paavola) Froberg of Keweenaw Bay, Tom (Julie) Froberg of Keweenaw Bay, Heather (Jim Johnson) Froberg of Baraga; grandchildren, Bryant, Bailey, Hillary, Tyler, Harlee; great grandchildren Kade, and Kason; brothers, Donald (Bonnie) Froberg of L’Anse, Robert (Patricia) Froberg of Champion, MI; sisters, Betty Korhonen of Sullivan, MO, Irene Lucas of Sullivan, MO, Doloris Mayo of Harvey, MI and Barbara Rovedo of Ishpeming, MI.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, James and Johnny Froberg.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 20th from 5-7 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home in L’Anse. The Baraga County Area Veteran’s will conduct military rites at 7 p.m. followed by a memorial service with Rev. John Ansell officiating.
