Dale Evan Hakola, age 60 of Keweenaw Bay, MI passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017 at U.P. Health System in Marquette, MI due to complications of Leukemia.
He was born March 16, 1957 in L’Anse, MI son of Reino and Violet (Sipe) Hakola. Dale grew up in Pelkie and attended school in Baraga. As a young man, he worked as a merchant marine supplying the oil rigs in the Gulf coast. Residing in Galveston, TX, he was married to Alice Jones. In 1987, he came back to Alston and drove truck for Northern Oil for 25 years. Dale and his wife Donna Maskill, have spent the last 20 years together and reside in Keweenaw Bay.
He loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and traveling around the country in their RV. Dale was a kind hearted, gentle man, who was helpful and a good friend and neighbor to anyone in need. Surviving are his wife Donna of Keweenaw Bay; daughter Tiffany (Nick Mellon) Hakola of Kingsford, MI; step children, Tom Jones of Wausau, WI, Paige Maskill of Castlegar, British Columbia, Canada, Kevin Maskill of Kalispell, MT; grandchildren, Zoey, Shylah, Ashlyn, Bentley; brother Gary Hakola of Appleton, WI; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, Raymond and Robert Hakola; sister Deana Allen.
Per Dale’s request there will be no services. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
