Calumet: Craig Scott Brewer, 57, of Calumet, passed away on Sunday night, October 15, 2017 at U.P. Health System-Portage Hospital in Hancock.
He was born in Calumet on October 10, 1960, a son of the late Alfred J. and Faith (Mahaffay) Brewer. After attending Calumet Schools, he later graduated from Hancock High School. Craig was a cook for many years in area restaurants. He also drove taxi for Neil’s Taxi in Hancock for several years before becoming the manager of the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Hancock until it closed. He then owned and operated the Bargain Bin Store in Hancock and also the Cart Wagon Delivery Service of Hancock.
Craig was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Hancock. In his spare time he enjoyed playing the keyboard.
Special people who preceded him in death were his grandmother Verna, an uncle Edward, as well as his parents.
He is survived by his step-mother, Judy Brewer of Laurium; brother John (Gini) Brewer; step-brothers Jack (Noreen) Johnson, Michael (Sandra) Johnson, and Robert (Andrea) Johnson; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Glad Tiding Assembly of God Church with Pastor Scott Leutz to officiate. Interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.
