Youth Advisory Council's Book & Pajama Drive Underway

Bedtime stories are among the most cherished childhood memories.

You don’t need much—a good book, a warm pair of pajamas, and your child is all set.

The Youth Advisory Council of the Keweenaw Community Foundation is running a book and pajama drive for the kids in the local community.

KCF Executive Director Jim Vivian said, “Books are usually used once. This way they can take a lightly used book and transfer it to another need, the needs of a youth in our community.”

The community is encouraged to donate new and gently used books and new pajamas for children ages 5 to 17.

Donated books will be given to children involved in the 31 Backpacks program, so all the donations will stay in the local area,

Drop off locations can be found throughout the Copper Country, including the Portage Lake District Library.

Vivian said, “We do the book drive this time of year to get the books to the students during a period where they have the time to read and share these books with the rest of their friends and youth in our community.”

The drive will continue until December 18th.
