Get your best sled ideas out because this weekend, the legendary Yooper Luge returns to downtown Houghton. This special event almost wasn’t going to happen this year due to the frigid weather conditions but Event Coordinator Susie Landers says she thinks the kids will be able to handle it.
She adds that the event is relatively new but it brings a special crowd along with it each year.
Registration begins at the corner of Isle Royale Street and Shelden Avenue at 12:30 and the competition starts at 1. Sleds must be handmade from soft materials, such as flexible plastic, cardboard and duck tape. Wood, metal and similar hard materials are not permitted. Prizes will be offered for kids and adults.
