WUPPDR Seeks Public Input for the Region A Housing Action Plan

The Western Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region seeks public input on the region’s housing plan. In 2022, Michigan released the state’s first statewide housing plan, to address challenges limiting access to housing for residents. Region A of the state’s housing plan covers Baraga, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon counties, and is led by the Western Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region.

The Region A housing partnership action plan breaks into three main challenges. Such as addressing issues like preventing homelessness in the state, and improving communication between housing providers and those who assist with programs. The third aspect of the regional action plan deals with improving the western upper peninsula’s housing stock, through both development and zoning. An online survey has been created for western Upper Peninsula residents to respond to and can be found online. Survey responses are due no later than September 25th.
