WUPPDR Releases Economic Strategy

The Western Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region commission will release their Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy today Tuesday November 16th. From today until December 15th the organization will take public comments about the draft. The document contains a regional overview and data analyzing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats toward a prosperous economy in the western u-p. The CEDS document will also contain some of the goals and objectives the WUPPDR has in mind when striving to accomplish their economic vision for The region. All comments about the comprehensive economic development strategy will be taken into consideration, before the organization finalizes the document. All comments would be submitted in writing and emailed to the WUPPDR. The full press release can be found below.

Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) Available for Review
 
The Western Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region (WUPPDR) has completed a draft of the updated Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for Baraga, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon Counties. WUPPDR, as a condition of its designation and funding as a district organization of the United States Economic Development Administration, is responsible for creating a CEDS and updating it every five years. The CEDS is developed with input from a region wide committee representing diverse economic interests. The document contains a regional overview and data inventory; analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats; and goals, objectives, and action items to accomplish a regional economic vision. The updated CEDS draft can be reviewed online at www.wuppdr.org/regional-plan beginning Tuesday, November 16, 2021. Comments will be accepted until Wednesday, December 15, 2021, to be considered for incorporation into the document prior to its adoption by the
