The battle over wolves in the Upper Peninsula is continuing. A Michiagn Senate committee has supported a resolution calling on the U-S Fish and Wildlife Service and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to appeal a court ruling that returned wolves to federal protection as endangered species. Some residents from the Upper Peninsula say there are more wolves in the western U-P than it can handle, creating safety issues for people, especially children and livestock. But Native American tribes disagree. State Senator Tom Casperson says wolves have exceeded the original goals for the U.P., noting it’s frustrating that those who support wolves never say how many is too many for the Upper Peninsula.
