Good news for U.P. residents who overwhelmingly supported the two state proposals from this past election. Although Michigan voters turned aside a pair of proposals dealing with wolf hunting in the state, a new law was passed this summer by lawmakers that allows the hunt to continue in 2015. That law affirms the ability of the Natural Resources Commission to designate which game and fish species can be hunted. The NRC has designated wolves as game animals since last year after they were removed from the endangered species list. Supporters of the hunt say the proposals don’t carry any weight due to the new law.
