A front loader was removing snow Tuesday when it snagged on a guy wire. UPPCO crews were on scene until just after 10 AM at the corner of Montezuma and Quincy Streets as they replaced the damaged wire.
The utility pole it was attached to housed a single-phase transformer connected to lines stretching south. At that point, electricity is rerouted east to downtown businesses along US 41. In order to complete the job, power was cut off along the line. Once repairs were made just after 10 AM, outages reported by UPPCO on their website dropped from over 700 customers to around 225. Most of those were concentrated where Sharon Avenue intersects Military Road. A half hour later, all power had been restored.
