Water Resource Distribution Efforts Reach 16,300 Flint Homes

Water response teams have visited more than 16,300 homes in Flint in an effort to distribute bottled water, water filters and water testing kits.

Special 1st Lieutenant David Kaiser of the Michigan State Police says just on Sunday teams made up of local and state personnel, the American Red Cross and other volunteers distributed water resources to nearly 5,000 homes impacted by high lead levels in their drinking water.

He says he expects the momentum to continue as the number of National Guard increased Monday from 30 to 70 members to assist at water resource sites established at local fire departments.

But Kaiser says they are still asking for volunteers to help with distribution efforts. He says those who want to help can contact the American Red Cross.
