Walls Named HCF Homemaker of the Year

Melanie Walls was named the Ruth E. Best Homemaker of the Year this afternoon at the Houghton County Fair.

It’s Walls’ first award, which is presented to the open class competition winner who compiles the most points in the homemaking categories. Wells won the Silver Plate as the top entrant in the Needlework category. Other Silver Plate winners included Joan Dostalor for Culinary Arts, Jaye Kramm for Fine and Folk Arts, Eileen Stordahl for Floriculture, and Bill Isaacson for Horticulture.

The Houghton County Fair continues through Sunday at the fairgrounds in Hancock.
