State lawmakers Wednesday could begin voting on a $54.4 billion fiscal plan for the 2015-16 budget year that includes $400 million for roads.
Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhof says finding the money in the General Fund for road repairs gives lawmakers a little more breathing room to come up with long-term solutions.
The budget also includes $13.9 billion for K-12 schools, a 1.5 percent increase, but slashes funding for Michigan’s film incentive program to $25 million, down from $50 million.
