Visit The Hancock Public Library & A Clean Audit–Hancock Public Schools Board Meeting Recap 11-16-15

Hancock residents have a terrific library available for public use.

That’s something the Hancock Public Schools Board of Education wants to remind residents and to encourage them to come and check it out.

That’s Hancock Schools Superintendent Monica Healy.

A proposal is planned for the November 2016 ballot to allow those who live in Hancock to use the Portage Lake District Library in Houghton.

If the measure fails, the board discussed possibly trying to get a millage on the ballot for the following year to improve the Hancock Public Library.

The board also heard the results of their 2014-15 District Audit Report.

A summary of the report was given by Debbie Bradford of Rukkila/Negro and Associates, who said it was a clean or unmodified audit.

Healy said that was good news to hear.

Bradford did advise the board to keep a closer eye on budget expenditures as some items exceeded their allotted amounts…but were balanced out with revenues that were more than expected.

The next meeting of the Hancock School Board will take place on December 21st.
