UPPCO Affirms Rate Reduction; Seeks Public Input

Upper Peninsula Power Company will hold a series of Stakeholder Forums in January, seeking input on its Integrated Resource Plan. An Integrated Resource Plan is a process used by a utility to evaluate how it will best serve the future energy needs of its customers.

In a press release, UPPCO Vice-President of Business Development and Communications Brett French reaffirmed that residential electrical rates are expected to drop by approximately six percent next month. Commercial customers will see a 15 percent reduction, and industrial rates will fall 24 percent. French said the January forums will enable customers to influence upcoming decisions that could have a bearing on future rate adjustments, and ask questions about the company’s operation.

The Copper Country forum will take place January 11th between 3:00 and 7:00 at Finlandia University’s Jutila Center in Hancock. Other meetings will take place in Gladstone, Ishpeming and Munising.
