UP Lawmaker Eying Bills to Fine-Tune State Government

With his work on a special House committee done, State Representative Ed McBroom is turning his attention to a series of bills he says will make the legislature work more efficiently.

McBroom chaired the special committee that recommended State Representatives Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat be expelled from the House.

The chamber followed the recommendation with Gamrat. Courser resigned.

Now McBroom is shifting his focus to bills doing away with omnibus budgets, term limits and requiring members of the State Board of Education be elected.

He concedes the bills are bit inside baseball and are probably boring to most people however he believes passing them will make government operate more effectively.

Some of the bills are awaiting hearings in House committees while others haven’t been introduced yet.
