UP Health System – Portage Participating in Michigan Harvest Gathering Food Drive

HANCOCK, Mich. – UP Health System – Portage is once again partnering with the Michigan Health & Hospital Association for the 25th annual Michigan Harvest Gathering food drive. The collection will run from October 19-30.

All non-perishable food collected at Portage will go directly to the Western UP Food Bank on Sharon Avenue in Houghton. The food bank serves Baraga, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon counties.

“Michigan Harvest Gathering is a great opportunity for us to help individuals and families within our community that have found themselves in need,” said Shannon Brodeur, Director Food Services at UPHS-Portage. “By donating much needed non-perishable food items that will remain right here in our community we are also helping support our joint mission of ‘Making our communities healthier’.”

Locations for the collection boxes are in the café and lobby at UP Health System – Portage in Hancock, at the University Center location on the campus of Michigan Tech and at the Express Care and Fitness Center on Sharon Avenue in Houghton.
