The official results from Saturday’s Keweenaw Bay Indian Community General Election are pending but it appears that both casino proposals have been approved.
The first proposal was regarding a new casino development project in Baraga at the current casino site with an estimated cost of $28 million.
The second proposal was for a casino development project in Marquette at the current casino site with an estimated cost of $12 million.
For the Tribal Council, Warren “Chris” Swartz, Jr. was re-elected in the Baraga District, along with Fred Dakota.
Susan J. LaFernier and Jennifer Misegan were both re-elected in the L’Anse District.
