U.P. Tornado Confirmed

The National Weather Service says a tornado did hit the western Upper Peninsula during a Monday night storm.

The National Weather Service has confirmed a low-end EF-1 tornado hit near the Gogebic County community of Bessemer.

Winds were estimated around 90 miles-per-hour.

The state Department of Natural Resources says the storm dumped nearly a foot of rain and washed out access to a boat launch.
