Today, ten Upper Peninsula educators are heading overseas to learn about the successful teaching techniques in Finland. Finlandia University is facilitating the first Finnish Educator Exploratory Team to Helsinsk, Finland, where they have one of the highest literacy rates in the world. Among those making the trip are Baraga Area Schools Superintendent Jennifer Lynn and Hancock High School Principal John Sanregret. They will visit Finnish schools and be provided opportunities to engage in conversations with Finnish educators, observe direct instruction and teaching methodoligies. The trip will be the topic of interest at the Fall Education Forum at Finlandia University in October 2014.
