The number of college student’s binge drinking — having five drinks in a row – is down, according to a study recently released by the University of Michigan.
Lloyd Johnston conducted the survey for the U of M and says 35-percent of the students surveyed say they had taken part in binge drinking over the two weeks leading up to the survey. That’s down from 42-percent in 2004.
However extreme binge drinking – consumer 10 drinks in a row or 15 drinks in a row – is up.
13-percent of those surveyed say they’ve had 10 drinks in a row and five percent say they’ve had 15 drinks in a row.
